My Theory on Global Warming

"Oil tampons" await their period in the sun off Thompson's Point in Portland
following the Julie N oil spill in 1996.

Last I heard, toward the center of the earth it gets quite hot. Maybe it does cool off at that chocolate center of this Tootsie Roll, but that's another issue.

I haven't yet heard any mention of this potential phenomenon, but please, stop me if you've heard this one before!

Being that potentially there has been unprecedented increase in temperature on this planet in recent years, and upon further contemplating the properties of crude oil, I see the situation as analogous to an automobile engine. Oil is perhaps a more efficient substance in its absorption of heat rather than in combustion, and what would be the effect on an engine if we drilled holes in the crankcase and extracted the oil? I would imagine we would see an eventual increase in the operating temperature, perhaps imperceptible at first, and then more drastic as the oil volume lowers further.

What's the difference between this and what is happening to the planet? As we approach what many seem to agree - believers in global warming or not - is a time when the supply of minable oil is limited and rapidly diminishing worldwide, is there a coincidence between this and a perceived increase in planetary temperatures?

We're draining the coolant out of the engine and exposing it to operating conditions in direct sunlight on a daily basis, and then heating the surface with this same fuel, powering internal combustion engines and furnaces with it.

While trying to remain neutral, the image of a punch-drunk boxer who thinks he's fine conjures in my mind for some reason...

Aren't we sinking our own ship here, or what? Is this engine analogy off base - or did I strike oil?
